I was inspired by the Quixel Ninety Days workflow and wanted to try it myself on a big Elden Ring inspired environment.
I love the From Software game environments and tried to create something unique and epic. I worked with Unreal Engine 5 using Lumen. I've worked on a few environments now with Lumen and greatly enjoy it. If you haven't tried it out yet I highly recommend it, especially if you enjoy lighting work.
Lighting a night time scene is always challenging. I tried to use fill lights to add shadows in areas and light certain areas to make objects stand out more.
If you want to know anything feel free to ask me in the comments. I hope you enjoy it!

Breakdown of the environment over time. I originally was going to do a much wider shot with the castle style building in the background. However as I kept working I picked a camera angle and started to develop the scene around it.
This material was very helpful in creating variety for the background objects without having to do vertex painting per asset. I used this material on most architecture in the scene with material instances to adjust parameters per asset.
